Ribbon Cutting for Swift-Cantrell Park Wellness Station A ribbon cutting event on Tuesday, April 30 marked the official opening of the new Life University wellness station at Swift-Cantrell Park in Kennesaw.
“Life University is sponsoring this new fitness equipment which addresses environmental, social, physical and emotional dimensions of wellness that reflect one of LIFE’s pillars of success,” said Greg Harris, Life University Vice President for Development and also a board member of the Swift-Cantrell Park Foundation. “This will encourage more people to play, exercise and socialize outdoors at the park, and LIFE is pleased to be a part of this.”
The outdoor wellness station is a complete fitness and body-weight training system designed to exercise nearly all of the bones and muscles. The system consists of five stations, 120 exercises, and can accommodate up to 14 users at once. Two additional stations will feature low-impact, functional exercises to help older, active adults stay fit, prevent injury and maintain an independent healthy lifestyle.
Real World: DCs Recap – Dr. Raymond Fowler (’83) Many new faces filled the Roswell practice of Dr. Raymond Fowler on the evening of May 20, 2013 for another installment of Real World: DCs (RWDC).
Fowler - who specializes in exercise rehab, conservative orthopedic care and non-force chiropractic - shared insight into his 30 years of chiropractic experience through personal stories, product recommendations and good reads. All in all, the students appreciated his candor and relaxing atmosphere.
RWDC is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for students to network with alumni and explore numerous practices, make personal connections and gather valuable information. It’s also an opportunity for alumni to give back to the University. Our next hosts will be Drs. Gary (’83) and Carolyn (’93) Fish of Fish Family Chiropractic on Monday, July 15 from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Undergraduate and Alumni Cookout Recap More than 150 students packed Lyceum Park on Thursday, April 25 for the Undergraduate and Alumni Cookout. The lawn was filled with faculty, staff and students, all eager for an afternoon of delicious food, giveaways and camaraderie.
Dr. Michael Smith, Dean of the College of Undergraduate Studies, braved the dunk tank as students lined the sidewalk for the opportunity to send him plunging into the ice-cold water. In just a few short hours, Dr. Smith had helped the Undergraduate Student Association (USA) raise $75 for their student organization.
This is the second time the Department of Alumni Relations has hosted this event in conjunction with the College of Undergraduate Studies. Events such as these allow our students to gather and build relationships while sharing in the celebration of their community.

LIFE Speed Torches Army LIFE is through to the D-IA semis after defeating Army in West Point 55-29 in the quarterfinals at the US Military Academy's Anderson Rugby Complex.
The teams were close early on, but LIFE's athleticism and pace stressed the Army defense far too much. Despite some big plays from Army's Eagle fly half, Will Holder, the Cadets were overwhelmed late. The pace of the game was dictated by LIFE and it took Army a good 60 minutes to adapt, but by then the Black Knights were in a deep hole. They fought hard to come out of it, but ultimately couldn't.
LIFE now travels to arch-rival Arkansas State on May 4 for the semifinals. LIFE and Arkansas State split the season series, each winning close matches on their home turf. It’ll be a tough task to win on the road, but Coach Payne has the boys healthy and firing on all cylinders. It should be a great match! You can follow the action on the LIFE Rugby Twitter page: @liferugby.
LIFE wins National Championship!
LIFE's undergrad team beat St. Mary's 16-14 on Saturday, May 18 in Greensboro, N.C. to win the Division 1A National Championship.
Joe Cowley was named MVP of the finals, scoring 11 of LIFE's 16 points. Drew Ohmann scored the winning try, as LIFE came back from a 14-3 halftime deficit to beat a St. Mary's team that averaged more than 60 points per game this season.
This was the culmination of hours upon hours of hard work, sweat, blood and most of all, commitment to excellence. Congratulations to all the players, coaches and staff who made this incredible achievement possible in just three years!
LIFE is proud to be National Champions!
