Life University Connects with Dr. Oz and Healthcorps to Empower Youth in Healthy Lifestyles Thanks to the innovative, pioneering leadership of Healthcorps' Advisory Board Members, Drs. Michael and Lori Smatt, Life University has been invited to develop the spinal health section of the Healthcorps University Curriculum.
Healthcorps is a nonprofit service and education organization founded by Dr. Mehmet and Lisa Oz in 2003. Healthcorps aims to empower youth in healthy lifestyles in order to combat the deadly trend of teenage obesity.
After initial success in one New York City high school, Healthcorps has expanded rapidly and is currently active in 12 states and the District of Columbia with health curricula and coordinators established in 66 high schools. Healthcorps promotes healthy lifestyles through innovative programs designed to enhance mental resilience, promote healthy nutritional choices and increase fitness through activity.
In congruence with Life University's model of health, Healthcorps aims to empower youth as health advocates and activists, rather than being passive victims of sociological trends like the obesity pandemic. Currently Life University is working with the Healthcorps' Advisory Board developing an interactive spinal health teaching unit. The teaching unit focuses on chiropractic lifestyle education and care, promoting spinal and neurological health and biomechanical balance.

LIFE Rugby is Awesome! Life University played in the FOUR national rugby championships over the past three weekends:
May 18: LIFE's Undergraduate team WON the Division 1-A National Championship. This league plays 15 players per team on the field and represents the full-fledged version of rugby. This means LIFE is the best Undergraduate rugby team in the United States.
May 25: LIFE played in the Elite Cup and finished runner up to San Francisco. The Elite Cup is a semi-pro league, and LIFE is the ONLY University that competes in this league. LIFE only plays graduate and doctoral level students in this league, which includes many paid international players on the other teams.
June 2: LIFE's Undergraduate 7s team finished runner-up to rival University of California (Cal Berkeley) in the finals at the Collegiate Rugby Championship (CRC) in Philladelphia. This was covered on Saturday and Sunday by NBC and NBC Sports Network, and millions of people saw LIFE beat the University of Texas, University of Florida, University of Delaware and The US Naval Academy before losing by five points to Cal in the championship.
June 2: LIFE capped an incredible season by winning the prestigious Division One Men’s Club Championship in Glendale, Colorado—home of USA Rugby. Division One is the oldest US league and LIFE's Men's Club beat "Old Pudget Sound" from Seattle.
To recap, LIFE played for FOUR national championships, won TWO of them and came in second place in the other two!

6 Life University rugby players earn All-American status! Congratulations to the following LIFE players:
Joe Cowley
Colton Cariaga
Cam Dolan
Jake McFadden
Glen Maricelli
Paris Hollis
Joe, Colton, Jake, Glen and Paris will be traveling to New Zealand in the next couple of weeks to play with the All-American Touring Team. And Cam will be traveling to Japan with the US National Team as they play against Japan and Fiji.
"All-American" is the highest achievement a college athlete can earn on the field. It is a testament to the hard work and determination put forth on the part of these student-athletes, as well as the top notch training, development and care they receive from the coaches, trainers and staff affiliated with the rugby program.
Congratulations on this incredible honor!
