A Transformative Vision

In 2004, Dr. Guy F. Riekeman became the fourth president of Life University. Quickly, Dr. Riekeman assembled a leadership team and they created a vision for LIFE's future.  The core of this vision is to improve the campus and enhance student experiences by:

  • Becoming the pre-eminent, performance-centered, vitalistic healthcare institution in the world
  • Becoming the unchallenged leader in providing practical applications for success in business and in life
  • Breaking into the U.S News & World Report rankings for institutions of higher education
  • Establishing community in stewardship and ensuring our lasting legacy in leadership, strategic planning, stability, robust constituencies and delivery on our brand promise

To fulfill this vision, the campus and curriculum is being redesigned.  New facilities have been built and existing facilities are getting renovated. New undergraduate and graduate programs have been launched to maximize student potential and prepare students for success in tomorrow's business and health climate. Soon LIFE will launch a new Chiropractic academic program that focuses on learning in today's changing educational environment.

The engine driving the success of these efforts is a 15-year campaign called Realizing the Vision. Phase I had $80 million in capital and academic improvements, including new student housing, an organic cafe and the greening of several campus areas. In Phase II, LIFE launched a $7 million project to create the William M. Harris Center for Clinical Education. The William M. Harris Center has been completed and the grand opening was in April, 2017.  In Phase III, LIFE added two campaign projects. One project was to enhance and increase the level of research at LIFE focusing on four key areas, including practice based research. The other project was refacing LIFE's Lower Athletic Field which was completed in August 2016.

Phase IV of Realizing the Vision Campaign is called Centering Tomorrow.
