Meet Jessica Allen
Jessica Allen, D.C. candidate (shown left), was the recipient of the Dr. Robert H. Hatch Memorial and Harvey Lillard Scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year. Having only visited campus for a LIFE Leadership Weekend, Jessica immediately knew LIFE would be the perfect place to challenge her mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Get to know more about Jessica below.
Why did you choose to attend LIFE?
I originally considered LIFE as a possible institution because of its proximity to my hometown of Birmingham, AL. During a LIFE Leadership Weekend, many activities were set in place to challenge me and other prospective students. While on my visit, I was challenged mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Every day I was nudged more and more out of my comfort zone but because of the close-knit atmosphere I was comforted because I knew I was not alone. I visited LIFE for only a weekend, and came away with a huge amount of growth and confidence. I knew from that moment, that LIFE would be the perfect place to help cultivate in me a spirit of integrity and leadership.
Who inspired you to become a chiropractor?
Many people have had a hand in why I chose chiropractic. My greatest inspiration comes from the patients I’ve gotten to know over the years. Their painful turned triumphant stories touched my heart daily. For many of them, chiropractic was their saving grace. It is their belief and love of chiropractic that makes my passion and drive even stronger. Their stories are what motivate me to do my very best.
Name a couple of great qualities that LIFE has in helping you make your dream come true.
Life University’s scholarship opportunities have been one of the key factors in helping make my dreams come true. Because of the generosity of Life University and it’s alumni I am able to worry less about my finances and focus more on preparing myself to become the best doctor I can be. Life University also provides us with the opportunity for more hands on training and in depth knowledge through its clubs and seminars, many of which are either free or at a reduced price for students. This has provided me with countless opportunities to network with alumni, engage with fellow students, and learn more about my chosen profession.
What was your first experience with Chiropractic?
My first experience with Chiropractic was when I became a patient of Dr. Robert Meadows in Auburn, AL. About six months before I first entered his office, I was in a minor car accident. I walked away with no noticeable injuries, but as the weeks went by I began having aches and pains in my low back, and neck accompanied by headaches. These pains had come on so gradually that I had grown accustomed to them. Constant aches had become my normal. From the very first adjustment, my relief was immediate and over time my energy and overall health increased. I realized then that chiropractic worked, and that it was something I’d want to continue forever.
