Make a Gift to: Research

The Dr. Sid E. Williams Center for Chiropractic Research (CCR) is dedicated to the advancement of the chiropractic profession through engagement in research of significance conducted in alignment with the Vision Statement of Life University.

Out of this emerge our main research themes, which are clinical research, biomechanics, neuroscience and the creation of a chiropractic learning healthcare community.  The CCR currently has 65+ ongoing research projects, including:

  • Quantitative assessment of changes in brain activity before and after a chiropractic adjustment
  • Thrust magnitudes, rates and 3-dimensional directions delivered in simulated lumber spine HVLA adjustments
  • Kinematic evaluation comparing internal frame and frameless backpacks: a pilot study
  • The effects of GyroStim Balance Trainer Performa protocol on brain function as measured by quantitative electroencephalography
  • Research Link: Research topics of interest to participating chiropractors
  • Practice-based research network: Lifetime Care Study

In addition to individual research studies, the CCR is focused on a number of large-scale projects. For instance, the development of an adjusting mannequin to improve the safety and quality of early chiropractic technique training through creation of a lifelike simulator to train students to deliver controlled thrusts into spinal segments.

In the area of clinical research, the CCR has made a major commitment to practice-based studies through creation of a chiropractic learning healthcare community (Research Link). One of the great advantages of practice-based research is that no individual practice needs to be responsible for generating the numbers of patients that are necessary to create a powerful research study.  Instead, through appropriate design, data from patients in a number of practices can be pooled and processed to provide meaningful answers to clinical research questions.

We believe that a committed community of learning healthcare professionals engaged in research will lead to advancements in chiropractic care and invite you to support this work with a financial commitment. Your gift to the CCR will help us maintain and expand our research efforts.
